Well... if compatibility with Plain is preserved, I see no reason why not to do it! I was about to say "please file a pull request", but Gregorio still has a prehistorical workflow... I'm starting to consider more a more a move to github (or bitbucket) as a good thing... The main problem being the mailing list, but it would be possible to make a Google group, or open a stackoverflow on ancient music, discussions like this being possible on bugreports and pull requests.
