I have thought about a preprocessor, but essentially this would have to parse gabc and produce gabc, so it would carry the much of the gregorio executable with it, or it will only be a facsimile and will break down in edge cases. I have also thought about a post-processor via TeX macro. The difficulty here (and somewhat in the preprocessor case as well) is the styling information. It's not easy to support user-definable rules because of the complexity of what needs to be parsed. I think I'll let the idea simmer some more, given these limitations.
