I'm doing my final checks to prepare for the release cycle now. In fact
I started them yesterday. All my PRs on the documentation were the
result of me catching problems as I went through my checks.
The last check is a full build/install on my primary system and a run of
the test suite. That usually takes about 30min (and I started it just
before writing this email). Assuming everything passes (and I have no
reason to suspect it won't), I'll update the version number and start
building the beta release when that is done.
Since this is a beta build, I'm not going to create the release-4.1
branch at this time, but instead update the version number on the
develop branch, just as I did for the 4.0 betas. I will also push that
change directly to the main repository rather than create a PR for it.
