Hi,
You don't need to revert back to TeXLive 2008 - lualatex should be
part of TeX Live 09. The name was changed from pdflualatex in the
previous TeXLive. Can you run lualatex from the command line? It is
recommended to use it instead of lamed, as some problems in the output
are fixed when using LuaTeX.
