Very nice, Sir! When you are ready to release it, I would love to provide a
link to it from my website, if you are in agreement.

A couple of thoughts from a longtime Latex user (and sometimes abuser):

Latex tries its best to fit things according to its own internal rules of
aesthetics. It usually does a good job of this However, from time to time, it
needs a little help from users to know how to best accomplish this. Also,
sometimes it just needs to be beaten into submission to get it to behave.

In the case of extra space (or lack thereof), I find two things that are
useful: \vfill and \vspace{xx}. Adding a \vfill before and after a chant will
allow Latex to even out the vertical spacing if a chant fits entirely on one
page. You might want to give a few of them a try.

Sometimes, \vfill will be unsatisfactory. If all else fails, meaning the
spacing is just not optimal, then adding a \vspace{xxx} to adjust the vertical
spacing is my solution. \vspace{0.05in} adds 0.05in, and \vspace{-0.05in}
removes 0.05 inches. Naturally one can use mm or pts. This allows one to tweak
the Latex a bit to improve output.

Generally I find Latex gets is right 80%-90% of the time, so tweaking should be
minimal.
