Hi,

Last night I installed gregorio on the testing version of Debian,
called Wheezy. It looked promising as it comes with texlive 2011.

The problem I had was installing the svn version of gregorio, following
the instructions makes two packages at version 1.0-1 and debian has its
own packages at v 2.0-1 (if that's not the exact number it's close enough
to explain). That would have been alright but debian's tex-common
package is marked as breaking with gregoriotex < 2.0. So even though
the svn version should be more up to date than debian's v 2.0, the
package manager would not install it.

After a fair while looking for how to change the version number,
it turns out it's a case of editing the file debian/changelog, with
scrupulous care for getting the spaces right, and then recompiling
with dpkg-buildpackage, so now I have my own v 2.1-svn debs.

though now I'll find out that the debian package is quite up to date
and I didn't have to do all that. The maintainer's name looks familiar

Posting anyway, in case it helps,

Veronica
