following your findings I tried to reverse what is mentioned in lines
112ff. of the 2.6 luaotfload-tool code:

by commenting out the dummy replacements, but of course, being no lua
expert I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind.
Anyway, it did not change anything, same error. If you (or Élie as one
of the luaotfload-tool authors) could give a hint as to what else to
modify in the 2.6 luaotfload code I could clearly volunteer to test it.
