No more than standard orthography, grammar, pronunciation, etc.

I disagree. What exactly is the use case you're thinking about? A person
wanting to have a pure reproduction of a book will just copy it, no need
to go through gregobase. Gregobase is a database for people to fetch
scores when they build boos, with their own style. They don't want to
have some scores with spaces before puncutations, some without... What
would be the point of having scores with spaces before punctuations and
others not? What use case are you thinking about?

Absolutely, hence the possibility to just include a gabc file (without
space) and make it follow the rules of the main booklet.
