I've never seen gb_vmode...where are you getting that from?

In any event, I would ditch trying to open the swf directly, and
instead create a page, embed the swf in it, and then greybox the page
instead. Some people report having trouble playing flash in greyboxes,
just FYI (I never have, but I hardly use flash anyway).
