Thanks for the reply.

The problem is that either OmniDazzle or Apple Keynote do post a 
notification.  If you’re not familiar, OmniDazzle allows screen effects 
that overlay other apps.  I often use the Scribble feature, which draws 
colored lines on the screen.  I switch colors with keystrokes, and this 
is when I get a notification.  Omnidazzle doesn’t show up in the Growl 
list of applications reporting, but something triggers the notification.

I cal live with using the menu icon, but would like to know why these 
notifications show up of Growl isn’t detecting the application.
