Yay, voodoo! (See below.)

I thought you said Sandbox didn't show up in the prefpane. That implies that the prefpane was showing up in the first place.

Cool, but that has nothing to do with a restart.

Growl, being a prefpane, will show up in System Preferences if it's installed and will not if it's not. You don't need to restart to make a prefpane show up. That step died with extensions (INITs) and control panels (cdevs) on Mac OS.

Assuming that Sandvox is nothing but a plain application, you should not need to restart to make anything happen with it, either, and if Growl is running (the Growl prefpane will tell you that), Sandvox should register when you launch it.

I set the sound and visual notification options for Sandvox, did another restart, and the visual notifiication works great but still no audio.

Please send us a screenshot of the Growl prefpane with the sound selected. Instructions for taking a screenshot are here:

These instructions are the same on Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5.

We prefer screenshots as email attachments, sent to the group's email address. Second best is to post it in the Files area through the Google Groups web interface.

I have been looking for an email address to report the bug but Growl seems to have that contact info well hidden. The only thing I have found for help is this discussion group.

That is the contact info.
