Not really. People have a way of forgetting where they installed
something
the last time, which leads to multiple-copies-installed-and-active
problems.
Installer has a “relocation” feature that would solve that, but
it makes it
all but impossible for us to test the package, so we can't use it.

filed with Apple.)
So, until relocation works sanely, if you want it somewhere else,
you get
to move it there.
Plus, I don't think "3rd party" is standard. I've been trying to
find some
apple docs indicating where to install an app like GS, but have not
found
anything solid yet.
