It's not listed under the applications that "talk" to Growl either
anymore in System Preferences.
Applications don't perish from the Applications tab unless you
explicitly remove them, so if WoW is not listed there now, and you
didn't remove it, then it was never listed there.
An application that was never listed there has never sent Growl
notifications.
World of Warcraft (just the game) is not listed under the
Applications that support Growl.

Yeah, I didn't think we'd listed it on the page. As far as I know,
WoW has never supported Growl.
It did at one time for their downloads. The last I heard of it was a
year and a half ago.

So I think you're talking about notifications from other
applications appearing over your WoW game. I don't think we've ever
changed anything that would affect that, which means it's the WoW
update that broke that, probably by using a different method of
going full-screen.
You'd have to take that up with Blizzard.
