Please also check the output of “ls -dl /usr/local/bin/growlnotify” after
installing; it should say that growlnotify is owned by user root, group wheel.
It does, but the date on it is 9/29/9:
$ ls -dl /usr/local/bin/growlnotify
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 226440 Sep 29 2009 /usr/local/bin/growlnotify
Is that correct?
No. What does /usr/local/bin/growlnotify --version say?
D'oh! I read "growlnotify comes in an Installer package now" as
"growlnotify comes in the Growl Installer package now". Once I actually
install growlnotify, everything seems fine:
$ ls -l /usr/local/bin/growlnotify
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 226440 Jun 8 23:28 /usr/local/bin/growlnotify
$ /usr/local/bin/growlnotify --version
growlnotify 1.2.1b5

Although I did get the Portuguese message others have reported.
Sorry for the false alarm.
