The previous logging, while containing some debug information like "positionDisplay: could not reserve initial rect; looking for another one", also contains useful operational log records like buddy status updates from Adium. Hmm, OK. I've had Growl installed for quite a few years now. I've never tried (never needed to try) changing any logging settings before. Apparently, the default was not off in the past.
