Growl itself only checks the Growl website to look at
http://growl.info/version.xml specifically.

We do not collect any information currently. In later versions we may
want to collect things like OS X version, really just anonymous things
similar to http://adium.im/sparkle

Now, there are things that do more than this. For instance, if you use
Prowl, it'll send some information to the Prowl server, as far as I'm
aware. You would need to contact that developer to find out what
specifically, however I'm pretty sure it's just the information that
Prowl needs in order to submit data over to your iPhone.

The Extras themselves don't really do much outside of the system
either. None of them should have update checking.
