Yes please. I understand that the preference pane is gone now so it would take some magic getting the icon back in the menu bar once you delete it, but with all the other unremovable icons my menu bar is already half full... I would really appreciate the option, even if it's hidden and settable only through the terminal to ensure that only users how know what they're doing can hide the icon.
