We've tried contacting a large amount of application developers, but we couldn't contact everyone.
Firefox knows already, they have a ticket on this. I don't know if thunderbird does but I'm pretty sure the fix for firefox will also work for thunderbird. However, a lot of developers decide how to do their work based on user feedback. I can contact them until I'm blue in the mouth (well, fingers) but an email from a user is probably more effective.
