Hi, We're not going to be putting out another version of Growl for 10.6.8 (or 10.5). Unfortunately we couldn't figure out a good way to only notify 10.7 users of the update. We do however have directions for disabling the update checker here:
http://growl.info/documentation/faq-new.php#1.2.2disableupdatechecker The app store does not require a credit card as far as I know, you can pay via other methods. However, for the built product we will not be providing another download, the app store is our distribution method for Growl in built form. Source is also available if you would like to build from source.
