That's what we do to filter 10.4 over to 1.1.6. The problem is that the
cfnetwork user agent doesn't change the major version, instead it changes
the minor version between 10.6.8 and 10.7. We could try performing a
compare function, but there's technical problems with that (I won't profess
to be an expert on this by any means). We spent a lot of hours on this over
the weekend and concluded that it just wasn't a good solution. Overall it's
not very hard to disable the update checking function, which is why we went
that route. :)
