?? I do not understand your question... how can I read a "Person X
came online"-notification in Skype???

Ok, In case I was unclear before I'll summarize my problem again:

I've only had Skype version 5.2.0.1523.
Just now I've updated to 5.3.0.1093, which is the latest version
currently available.
Growl I have installed yesterday (Nov. 7th 2011) directly from the
Appstore.
Before I've had installed an older, non-appstore version of Growl.
I've used the official uninstaller before installing the Appstore
version.

In Skype itself I have very limited options to setup notifications.
What I've done there is, that I've selected "Growl" under "Visual
notifications:" in the "Notifications"-Tab.

Now Growl shows me a bunch of notification types Skype does send. Part
of them are the usual "Contact Signed In" and "Contact Signed Out"
notifications. Growl's UI offers me the option to enable/disable
individual notification types or enable/disable only the logging of
those.

The problem is, that whatever I disable, the notifications get logged
anyway and create a huge stack of not very interesting notifications
Growl is always happily presenting me when I come back to my Mac.

I've even tried to disable logging for Skype in general (by unchecking
the global option "Enable Logging" in the "Applications Setting"-tab
in Growls Skype-setting, but still all Skype notifications are being
logged. Quite annoying and quite surely Growls mistake, right?

Help much appreciated,
Florian

PS: even if the only thing you can report is that it works for you it
would be nice to know which version of Skype/Growl you are using...
