I have been a long time user of Growl, and for a long time I have been completely happy with this product. However, I recently have become quite annoyed with the way the developers have been handling the upgrades. I also understand why you are charging customers for the upgrade, it would be like upgrading an operation system, I get it. But I don't understand why you don't list the changes to the application. How do I know what I'm getting? For all I know, all you've done is change the font, color, or something ridiculously simple. I don't see how something that simple would be worth two dollars. Call me cheap, but I don't buy something without first knowing what I'm getting. Another thing, sending notifications to upgrade every 15 minutes is annoying and absurd!!! Is this your way of forcing people to pay the two dollars to upgrade, so they don't have to keep getting the stupid notifications? I'm sorry, but I won't be strong armed into buying the upgrade.
I'm no business man or anything remotely close, but I do know that this is no way to make money. You have become as pushy as a used car salesman, which everyone knows is very annoying. I've dealt with enough pushy salesmen, and I refuse to utilize and pay for an application that is as annoying as you have become. I'm very sad and sorry that it has come to this, but I won't be using your application anymore. Even the Growl Uninstaller is pretty weak, I had to purchase another app to completely uninstall Growl. In the end, I did spend 2 dollars, but it wasn't to upgrade your application, but to completely uninstall it. In the future, I hope that you will begin listing (at least a summary) of all the changes (maybe within the annoying "upgrade" notification). Sure, I can go to the settings and turn off the upgrade notification (or whatever you call it), but it's the basic principle of it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
