I think something I did *may* have fixed this. Not sure though. Got rid of 
the following from ~/Library:

   1. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrow
   2. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrow.plist.lockfile
   3. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrow.savedState
   4. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrowlite
   5. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrowlite.plist
   6. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrowlite.plist.lockfile
   7. com.sparrowmailapp.sparrowlite.savedState
   
I'm not sure it is fixed because it's only been around 4 hours. I suspect 
that having the Sparrow Lite files from the previous install may be 
screwing things.
