Beta like an alpha is a test version of an app when they want users to test
it and find bugs.

stable version is what most people will use

Try grabbing the  Growl Version Detective, from
http://growl.info/documentation/faq-new.php#1.3noapps

And let us know what version of the growl framework they are using.

Someone might need to file a bug report w/ Yahoo, You might be able to see
if someone has already made a bug report w/ Yahoo

Might be able to poke them on Twitter if they are there also
