I am also having this issue. I am using Growl 1.4 on OS X 10.7.4. I work
on my computer daily and I now have a system of when I hear the CPU fan
kick on I have to goto Activity Monitor and kill Growl wait till the fan
stops then restart it. I have to do this a few time through the day. Any
suggest on this would be great or anything I can do to help resolve this
issue.

Thanks,

Shelby
