Purchased 1.4 after much deliberation but have had it disabled ever since as it 
would cause my iMac to run hot, even waking it from sleep to do so*.  Will be 
upgrading to ML (already have DP4 installed in a vm) on its release and don't 
plan to install Growl.

*Can't substantiate this claim other than to say after deleting growl it's not 
happened since.
