OK... I just downloaded GrowlTunes from the Mac App store and was getting 
the GrowlTunes app icon in Notifications as mentioned, and my research led 
me to this thread (which explains the limitations of OS X Notifications and 
may hint to a workaround, however does not offer a solution). 

So... for the next guy that may stumble across this thread... I hope that 
this may save you some time.  Here's what I figured out paying around with 
the Growl settings...

If you turn off "OS X Notifications" in Growl under the preferences 
"General" tab... then the iTunes album artwork will show up as a 
notification like shown in the photo in the App store.

To those developing the Growl apps... THANK YOU!  These apps are awesome!
