After looking at those two apps closer, Im not sure they have ever
supported Growl.  We can't just recognize all apps automatically, they
must implement support.  If you want iTunes notifications, there are a
number of apps out there, including our own, GrowlTunes (http://
growl.info/purchase), as well as others that support sending
notifications for different services such as Spotify.  Growl itself
just does the work of displaying notifications in the styles you
choose, its up to other apps to send us those notifications.  As for
Dropbox, try simply relaunching it while Growl is running, that should
cause it to show up (Its more than just an outdated framework in their
case, they do some weird things, but it should still work even with
the out of date framework).
