I do not know which side is having a problem necessarily. Note that
uberftp's behavior is technically going to be a result of both the
uberftp client's behavior and the GridFTP server's behavior; I am just
saying that RFT has absolutely nothing to do with it.
The only candidate advisory to try is
globus_gridftp_server_control-0.21, which fixes bug 6066, an issue
with long user and/or group names. The symptoms don't match up,
though.
Right--there isn't a segfault in this case, but there might be long
user names.
Does globus-url-copy work? Try the GridFTP server troubleshooting:
