Nope. Signing policy files were ignored prior to GT 4.0.7 so that
isn't your problem. Sorry.
Pardon? I think you're thinking about java GSI - C GSI has always
obeyed signing policies. I suspect the various GSI/GSSAPI packages
should either fix the problem or the vagueness of the error messages.
