Hi Christopher,

Thanks indeed for giving hint on SELinux problem; just disabled & restart has 
solved my problem. Although had same problem on another machine 2-3 months 
back.... have forgot that.. to err is human...:-)

I think this might well be an SELinux problem - Google helps:

Check if your SELinux is enforcing policies.
