Hi,

I tried to figure out the effect of parallelism when transferring one file
in the WAN. I transferred 100M and 1G file respectively with parallelism
ranging from 1 to 8. However, I observed weird trend in that the bandwidth
jumped up and down with increasing parallelism. I tried tcpdump to see
whether all parallel connections are used. The tcpdump output shows that
packets are not divided equally among multiple connections, instead, a
portion of connections do most of the transfer. How is parallelism
implemented in GridFTP? It seems the file is not divided equally among
multiple connections. When is parallelism beneficial?

Thanks,
Ruiqi
