Candidates should have 3-5 years post grad experience, *Position Summary:* •Working under minimal supervision, the Data Science developer will support the Data Science team initiatives to build and deliver data products software and oversee the associated data movement. Given a business problem, data analysis is conducted to look for trends or a model is built using the data. •The results are then built into a software solution that is delivered to clients. •It’s key that the data are available and accessible to produce the analytics, requiring identification and movement of data between systems. •The Data Science Developer is responsible to write and test code to the product specifications, address implementation issues, and create proper documentation. •He/she is also responsible to coordinate with the enterprise DBA’s and application support teams for development of data acquisition and transformation delivery services for the product, track and resolve data acquisition and transformation delivery incidents and service requests, and respond to ETL alerts and escalations to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems. * Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:* •Gather technical requirements and specifications to determine appropriate data science solutions •Develop data science software in Hadoop or other development environment •Write production code to product specifications •Test, QA, and deliver the software product to the application support teams •Support enterprise DBA’s •Develop automation of data acquisition, transformation and movement •Ensure source availability, data integrity, restorability and handle errors appropriately in a timely manner •Perform tests and validate all data flows and prepare all ETL processes according to business requirements and incorporate all business requirements into all design specifications •Ability to lead meetings with technical peers regarding data science solutions •Assess and document the structure, quality and compliance of source code and data •Document data science processes and solutions •Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision •Motivated to learn new technologies and concepts *Minimum Requirements:* •Minimum of 2 + years of development experience in implementing and supporting software applications •Skills in maximizing the high performance capabilities and parallel execution of processes •Very good working knowledge of Java/J2EE related technologies •Experience with Python and UNIX shell scripting skills •Experience with Windows, UNIX and Linux •Relational databases and SQL •Demonstrated skills with performance tuning •Experience in conducting code reviews and providing guidance wherever necessary •Excellent oral/written communication *Preferred Skills:* •Experience with Scrum •Experience with Big Data / Hadoop, scala, scalding, and cascading •Experience with R, SAS, or other analytics software •NoSQL database experience •Experience with data modelling/related concepts •Experience with business intelligence development/tools a plus *Vendor notes on interview process:* Interview process will be first on a phone interview, and then all candidates will have to be taking a code test. If that goes well then it will be an in person interview, start with a phone interview. Client will pay to fly anyone in. The candidate will be asked to put together a PowerPoint presentation about 15 minutes if they get to the in person interview stage.
