As I said, I would rather keep email in a seperate application.
Personally, I have an MGTD project for work items that are larger than
a single action.  To keep track of the "thread", I edit the notes
section of the project, often using the {t} notation so a date/time
stamp is automatically entered.  For example:

{t} Mailed Tracey with price of new software.

and I might create a waiting action "Tracey to email comments re
software price".

Then I see the action on my waiting actions list in the dashboard.  To
see the status of the project or update it, I click on the "[P]" next
to the action, and up comes the project, with the notes telling me the
whole status.  It works well for me.
