Hmm... I would say it is simply any material/info/notes that is, or potantially is, used as reference during the execution of your actions. Compiled information, if you will. And also, at least for me, general reference information such as the brand name of my vacuum cleaner for when purchasing new bags, or a wishlist for the girlfriend etc etc.
