I file emails by project immediately, entering GTD items as
necessary.  The rest goes into the trash or sent folders, which get
cleared out automatically by the mail client after a month.

Rather than depend on @-folders, I rely on my mailer's search feature
in the rare event that I need to get to a non-project email.
