Yes this is a bug in the current 0.97 release and is fixed in the latest SVN 
revision (in commit 19398). You might want to check out the latest SVN release.

I don't know if there are many gnutella clients running IPv6 at the moment so 
bootstrapping might prove to be hard.

Normally gtk-gnutella would have a large hostcache filled with IP adresses it 
will try first. Bootstrapping using an hostcache (either gwebcache or an uhc) 
is a last attempt. The hostcache would normally be sufficient to get you going 
again.
