Pardon me if I'm being stupid, but how can the save files end up being owned by
games if something, somewhere isn't setuid games (or root, I suppose)?
I don't know which distribution you are referring to, but I'm not aware of any
versions of NetHack (including GnomeHack) which currently have a setguid helper.
