In your message dated: Tue, 07 Nov 2000 00:49:33 EST,
your pithy ruminations on <Brake Pad Replacement> were:
=> Guys,
=> When replacing the brake pads, is it really necessary to replace those
=> spring clips or support pads (as Yamaha calls them)
=> The price for this simple spring clip is $22 for the front brake!
=> And, thats at PowersportsPro.
=>
=> By the way, the service manual also recommends replacing the broke hoses
=> every 2 years. Who here has done that? I've never seen mention of it on
=> the list.
=>
=> But those spring clips for the brakes gotta be reusable right?

You do mean the large, complicated spring plate at the top of the pads, right?
That is reusable. The spring clips at the back of each stock Yamaha brake pad
aren't replaceable, and aren't needed with aftermarket pads.

However, after ~45k miles, I noticed distinct wear on the front brake pad
_pins_ (the "bolts" that hold the brake pads). I replaced them, and that spring
clip when I was at it.
