I prefer to avoid tire and oil threads, but I just want to point out one oil
situation a few new joiners to the list may not be aware of:
I was running Mobil 1 in my GTS. I started to get starter clutch slippage.
Hit the button and here a whirring noise instead of having the engine start.
Intermittent at first, but starting to be a real problem to the point where
I'd park at the top of hills. Checked with the dealer. Repair requires
splitting the cases, estimated charge around $1,000 U.S. Ouch. Someone said
the oil might be the culprit. I switched to Motul semi-synthetic. Problem
gone. Never recurred. I haven't tried the Mobile 1 motorcycle specific oil,
but I'm not going to either. Rather than use pure synthetics, I'll just
change it more often.
