I would bet that the problem would be more likely to occur with newer stuff.
The problems with wet clutches and starter clutches seem to be caused by
particular friction modifier additives. This stuff makes the oil even MORE
slippery, but may not be the best thing for older bikes. I personally have
not had a problem with my bike in that area.

For scientific purpoises, was that with the
reformulated Mobil 1, or the old kind? I think it was
a bout 1-1.5 years ago the reformulated. When they
did, I bought a couple cases of the old stuff b/c I
had really good luck with it. Just curious, really,
as I (1) put in castrol 20-50 last change (Kevin
shamed me into not putting in 10-40, despite the cold
weather), and was considering the new mobil 1, but was
worried about slippage. The old M1 worked really well
in my bike.
