Since you're new to the list, Peter, you should know that Bob J. is a Yamaha
mechanic. Seems to me like you've left this long enough. After all the
valves are supposed to be checked at 26,000 miles and you're WAY beyond that
now. Wouldn't you think that Yamaha (and all the manufacturers for that
matter, spend a hell of a lot of time figuring out when you should check
your valves? They spend a lot of time on other things, so I'm guessing that
they spend time of that subject as well. Seems to me, that's one area where
the owner should heed what the manufacturer recommends.
(I'm not a mechanic and I don't play one on TV).
