Pete.......
In the motorcycle industry... anything produced after the 5 month of the year
is considered the next model year. Notice he had to give 4 digits to ID his
bike where everyone with 93's gave 3. Further, manufacturers do not keep
churning out the same model month after month. Any given assembly line will
produce X number of a certain model then change and make X# of a different
model.
(For refrence, to get the primary ID, which is how Yamaha identifies its
product, take the 4th, 5th and 6th characters of the Vehicle ID #, then the
last six digits. The first three characters of the Pri ID are used for model
identification, the remaining digits are the unit production number.
1993 49 state model Primary ID's began with 4HH-000101
1993 California models began with 4HH-001101
1994 49 state models began with 4HH-003101
1994 California models began with 4HH-004101
And for our brothers not in the US........
Canadian 1993 began with 4HH-002101
Aus, NZ 1993 models began with 4HJ-000101
And as far as the # of units imported to the US.... if that was what you
wanted to know, you should have asked. Kevin H produced these numbers from a
reliable source.
1993 GTS1000
AE - 528 (49 state model)
AEC - 105 (Ca model)
1994 GTS 1000
AF - 150 (49)
AFC - 50 (Ca)
Total # of GTS's imported to the US... 833.
Hope this answers your question.
