Funny this should come up.

I installed the Kimpex grip heaters (not heated grips)
on my SV test mule this weekend (not wanting to
experiment with the GTS.

Verdict: Easy, cheap, and effective (at least inside,
have not ridden outside as not above freezing for
several days. I'll ride in the cold, but not in the
freezing cold). the only complaint have is that they
don't stick flat on the throttle side plastic
sleeve--the sleeve that twists over the bar. On the
SV at least, the sleeve is ridged, and the heating
element is too stiff to conform to the ridges, leaving
a little air pocket.

I'll be installing a pair on my GTS after I move and
get settled in. For $22 plus about $8 on parts like
connectors and a relay, none of which was absolutely
essential, I would question the need for what I am
guessing is a $200 Yamaha part, probably sourced from
Hot Grips, which makes the same thing for $60.

If you have any information on the Yamaha product,
like a schematic, current draw info, or anything like
that, I've looked at a lot of different ways of doing
it, and can look at whether it has any glaring errors
that I can see.

One area of concern is the draw from the Kimpex grips,
a somewhat steep draw.

My .02.

Adam
