Mostly snipped below.....but the Steve Linsdell bike was interesting. It
started TT life as a pretty much GTS based bike with a lot of the heavy
tech ripped out. Every year, he seemed to go further with the
modifications. Our beloved front end is clearly seen at the starting line
in the IoM TT video from Duke in one of his early years, but I don't
recall just which year that was.

But there were other attempts at racing the GTS also. One version,
nicknamed the "Great White Whale" (guess what color it was painted, hint
hint) was raced in AMA Endurance racing.....briefly. It got leaned over a
bit at Road America, planted the swing arm, and catapulted into the trees
in a massive highside. My understanding is that Yamaha corporate had done
some of the work on the bike, and the pieces are likely still in a Yamaha
warehouse in California.

It seems it was American Roadracer, but may have been Roadracing World,
that did a major spread on the bike several years ago. Wish I could find
it, I once had a copy and didn't plan to toss it. If it shows up in my
"stuff" I'll post more details.
