Jon, the battery should keep for several years. It will have a code on it
that tells you when it was made....is it already several years old? Check
it to be certain.
The instructions for charging it will indicate a longer time on trickle
for an older battery. Use that, and the manufacture date, as an
indication of how long you can keep it.
And.....old battery, if it was already suspect, may still crap out on you
very soon. Hang on to the new one for now.
