Regarding the oil consumption issue;
For what it is worth, I had a bad (but typical) oil usage problem on
the stock motor. When I installed the FZR motor I put in a Weisco 1040
piston set and had the cylinders bored and finished honed by a guy that was
familar with the oil consumption problem with this motor. I now have 37,000
on the FZR motor and still experience no or very little oil consumption . If
I am running a lot over 100 mph then the oil level will be down just a little
bit in the sight glass after 2500 miles. We just returned from a tour of
AZ, New Mex, Colorado, Utah, Nevada over the Memorial weekend running most of
the time 80 to 95 and the sight glass still shows full after 2000 miles. My
opinion is that the oil usage problem is in the rings seating and has nothing
to do with the head.
I also tried out the K1200rs and was quite impressed with the
handeling and nice motor. But it was not better than the GTS.
