When mine shorted out around the HT lead , i removed the clips on the coil
holding the leads ( breaking them in the process ) and found that the leads
pull out .
Then i cut the lead back to remove the corrosion from the end and sprayed
WD40 into the coil to drive out any moisture , then pushed the lead back in
.
I've had the coils short out on the LT ( low tension ) side in a heavy storm
, which i cured by sealing the connectors with gasket sealant .
An interesting link John http://www.xs11.com/tips/repair/repair24.shtml
you can get good access to the pin for cleaning and to make sure the cable
contacts the pin correctly .
Both of these things i couldn't do when i replaced mine , if i have to do
mine in the future , i'll have ago at doing it this way.
