Jon,

Thanks for the comments. Oh how I wish it was as simple as a little water,
but alas its not. Injector cleaner and dry gas have had no effect on the
situation.

If your bike had a carb, then I would suspect water in the float bowls.
What you describe sounds like a classic water problem of a medium severity.
When it gets bad, the engine will start but not rev, and stall frequently.
This does not matter if cold or warm.

However, I doubt this is the problem since you have EFI !!

(maybe I should just be quiet now...) You could try some dry gas just to
see what happens...

Hi Nick,

Thanks for taking the time to answer off line. Unfortunately, my server or
yours would not allow me to send my reply back to you. One of the two
servers indicated that "one or more messages contained SPAM" and it would
not accept the e-mail. Not sure what's up so I thought I would take this to
the list. I also figured that others on the list might benefit from this
discussion.

Continiuning the previous discussion:

One reason that I was asking about how to get the system into the dealer
mode was because I had been unsuccessful when accomplishing it using the
procedure written in the manuals. It most likely is "operator" error. I
may try again..or..I need to find a competent mechanic in the San Diego area
that can troubleshoot the GTS system. My GTS exhibits the classic surging
problem, but that's not the real issue. When I start the bike it starts
fine. I then proceed to accelerate and it dies. I restart and the RPMs are
low as it tries to maintain some form of idle. I can keep the Rs up
manually and within a 1/2 mile it is warmed up enough to idle fine. My
guess is that one or more cold start sensors is bad, either a pressure
sensor (of course there are two of these) or the temp sensor but I don't
want to start arbitrarily replacing $$$ sensors. I would welcome any
suggestions of things to check or a competent mechanic.

Sincerely,
Jeff
