=> Well, I won't say it fit like a glove, but I do concur on the engine....I
=> guess I'm just an inline 4 kind of guy!

I had the R1100RSA for 3 years before getting my GTS. Aside from the fact that
my bike was a lemon, and that BMW-NA's customer service is terrible horrible
abysmal and just sucks, I really liked the engine. Sure, it sounds like a sewing
machine on steroids. On the other hand, you actually have engine braking, and
more "character".

The real difference for me is that, on the R11, there's a range of road
speed, RPM, and gear choice that gives a really clear feedback that you're
doing things correctly. You _know_ when it's all working well, and for me, that
range was about 70MPH, 5th gear, ~5KRPM.

On the GTS, there's more power available and it's there more quickly. The GTS is
more "acceptable" at many more combinations of road speed, RPM, and gear choice,
but very rarely gives that strong feeling that everything is perfect. When you
get close to that feedback, it's over a much narrower range, and (for me) at
15~20MPH higher than the R11.

It's hard to explain all of this, particularly via e-mail, but overall I wish I
had a powerful twin (with character), rather than a faster-reving inline 4.
I've got to get some seat time on a Duc. :)
